About Luke Gardiner

Luke Gardiner is the Conservative Party Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Mid Derbyshire Constituency. He was selected in 2023 to build on Pauline Latham OBE MP's years of dedicated service to the constituency.

He has a track record of delivering for people in the Midlands, having spent years heading up the Office of the Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street. During this time, he led the Mayoral Team as it delivered a range of key projects, from securing funding for developing brownfield sites and protecting green belt, striking a new deal with the Government to bring more local control over public services like skills and transport and landing multi-billion investment partnerships with firms like L&G.

His background is in consulting, including at McKinsey & Co where he specialised in helping governments improve public services for people in vulnerable or high-need groups. He is currently a Special Adviser on policing and crime in the No 10 Policy Unit.

Luke was awarded a PhD in Classics from the University of Cambridge and held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Chicago. He joined the Conservative Party as a student and has been an active member for over fifteen years.

Luke lives in Belper in the Mid Derbyshire constituency and in his spare time, Luke enjoys running, visiting heritage sites with his partner and reading bad novels. Inspired by his grandfathers - one a refugee from the Nazis, the other who played for Nottingham Forest and Mansfield Town (please forgive him) - he also enjoys tracing his family history.
